Silicon Valley is stretching southward and Playa Vista is at the epicenter of this new activity. This panel will center on the rise of Silicon Beach as a major US tech hub and how it is supplying Los Angeles with new investment, new architecture, and new jobs (between 5,000 to 6,000 people work in Playa Vista today—the number expected to more than double in the next few years).

Join Steven Sharp (Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Urbanize.LA) and panelists in a conversation addressing the socio-economic implications Silicon Beach could have over the long term as more moneyed tech workers settle into Los Angeles; ways architects and planners can create a more inclusive community; and how such rapid development could affect transit and mobility across a city already strained.

Featured panelists include Marc Huffman (Vice President of Planning & Entitlements, Brookfield Residential), Michael Manville (Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs), Li Wen (Design Director, Principal at Gensler), and Russell Fortmeyer (Associate Principal | Sustainability, ARUP).
