The verynice Women’s Design Salon is an intimate series that empowers our local creative community of women by bringing them together, along with outside experts, to discuss real issues, current events, and new ideas. While the series is focused on empowering women, all are welcome to attend and contribute.

Creativity thrives from inspiration. Inspiration comes from our surroundings and support from our community. In this special Los Angeles Design Festival event we’ll be connecting independent creatives to share their insights and experiences. Join our experts in a healthy discussion and some fun activities surrounding what it means and what it takes to be a freelancer.

This event is hosted by the verynice team, including Clarisa Valdez, Alisa Olinova, and Olivia Sy.

About Our Guests

Diane is an award-winning multidisciplinary visual designer, creative and art director, and entrepreneur. Half of the time she is Creative Director of Team Friday, an agency building purpose and furthering causes through social impact. The other half she designs for a roster of freelance clients that include Red Bull, Everytable, and Create & Cultivate. Lindquist & Co is her creative studio where she builds and protects projects like GURL Museum Day.

Thinker, designer, and writer. Self-described walking contradiction with an awkward facial expression for every situation. Sam is a life-long creative, and uses that excuse to justify her eccentricity. She also has some very intense feelings towards noodles.

Jenn is a freelance Wordpress developer based in Los Angeles. She has run her web development agency, Rosebud Designs, since 2009 and worked with a wide variety of clients. They range from the well-known and large businesses (Miramax, Rancho La Puerta), to various non-profits, to fellow creatives and vibrant small businesses. She teaches at USC and has previously taught at General Assembly.

Renae is a freelance writer, content creator, and brand consultant with a penchant for storytelling. Both a creative and an entrepreneur at heart, she helps brands and individuals in the food and lifestyle space tighten up their content strategies and tell their stories with a fresh, cohesive voice and engaging photography. Working full time in both the agency and nonprofit spaces, Renae has amassed a background in marketing, social media management, and creative writing that informs every project she takes on today.
