Art Made Between Opposite Sides
Artists from AMBOS, founded by Tanya Aguiñiga, will discuss their recent Border Quipu project. This modern Quipu—an Andean Pre-Columbian organizational system of recording history—engaged U.S./Mexico commuters on both sides of the border by documenting their experiences and asking them to anonymously tie a knot from colorful spools of remnants from the garment industry.
Join Jackie Amézquita, Gina Clyne, and Natalie Godinez as they discuss their experiences with the Quipu participants from border towns in a cross-cultural journey of storytelling, documentation, problem solving, protest, migration, art therapy and healing.
