Melodie Yashar, design architect, researcher, and co-founder of Space Exploration Architecture (SEArch+) will discuss her work creating human-supported concepts for space exploration and lunar habitation on the Moon and Mars. In 2015, SEArch+ was awarded the top prize in NASA's Centennial Challenge for a 3D-printed habitat with their proposal "Mars Ice House." In late March of this year, Melodie and the SEArch+ team won NASA's first prize in design for their latest proposal "Mars X-House," an evidence-based design for a future habitat for a crew of four to live and work on Mars for the duration of one Earth year. For her talk at the LA Design Festival, Melodie will discuss the future of space habitation and her firm's work in creating sustainable housing for the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
