Art Made Between Opposite Sides

Artists from AMBOS, founded by Tanya Aguiñiga, will discuss their recent Border Quipu project. This modern Quipu—an Andean Pre-Columbian organizational system of recording history—engaged U.S./Mexico commuters on both sides of the border by documenting their experiences and asking them to anonymously tie a knot from colorful spools of remnants from the garment industry. Moderated by Interiors magazine Editor-in-Chief Erika Heet, the panel will discuss their experiences with the Quipu participants from border towns in a cross-cultural journey of storytelling, documentation, problem solving, protest, migration, art therapy and healing.
