As LA design shapes global design, influences and trends, so the world casts its own effect here. And technological forces–from material innovations to instantaneous exposure—continue to impact the process.
How are designers—of lighting and furniture, public to private spaces— responding?
Join A+R’s Rose Apodaca in a spirited panel talk with some of the design world’s brightest, award-winning stars, flying into town for this special appearance and companion showcases exclusive to the festival:
Lukas Peet: this Vancouver-based designer is best known for his innovative series for his company Andlight, as well as lighting for Roll & Hill, and projects as diverse as cutlery and clocks, interiors to exterior spaces.
Simon James: a force not only in his native New Zealand, but worldwide as creative director of the multi-designer furniture and lighting house Resident, and via a signature house and showroom offering 80+ international designers, including his own consumer and contract-focused furniture.
Scott Bridgens: Creativity is hardly the sole reserve of the drawing board, and equally best applied to getting products to market. Having honed his operational chops at London’s Tom Dixon, Scott returned home and founded Resident with fellow Auckland mate Simon James.
Panel moderator Rose Apodaca is co-owner of A+R, a leading North American resource for modern furniture, lighting and décor, and anchor showroom and programming space at ROW. In addition to co-helming A+R, Rose is an award-winning journalist and two-time New York Timesbestselling author and creative director, as well as consultant to the beauty, fashion and product design industries.
